Saving One
Dachshund at a Time

I'
Groucho, an eight-year-old Dachshund/King Charles Cavalier mix, exhibits puppy-like behavior in his interactions and play, showcasing a distinctly Dachshund personality. He has a passion for playing ball and displays impressive athleticism. My husband and I adopted Groucho at four years of age from an individual who had purchased him at just four weeks old. Groucho experiences anxiety and struggles with socializing with new people and dogs. However, he can become friendly with individuals who exude calm after initial barking. Despite challenges with canine socialization, Groucho has made significant progress during the four years we have had him. He can now observe other dogs without pulling on the leash, although he may bark. Groucho is a wonderful companion, enjoying activities such as playing ball, cuddling while watching television, and indulging in sweet potato chicken wrap treats. He strives to be a well-behaved dog. He is protective of his human and he nipped someone. Must have a quiet home with someone who understands him. He is facing euthanasia, we don’t want to see that happen. Please

OUR MISSION:
Furry Angels Dachshund Rescue (FADR) is a small 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to helping Dachshunds find their forever homes. The rescue was founded in 2012 and is based in Foster, Rhode Island. FADR is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of the breed we hold so dear: the Dachshund or doxie. Our dogs come to us from shelters, veterinarians, owner surrender and occasionally other rescue groups. Our service area primarily consists of Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, etc; however, we adopt throughout the New England area and sometimes beyond! We are not affiliated with any other rescue groups or shelters. We are a stand alone group of dachshund lovers that donate our time, money and love to rescuing the Dachshund breed.
Furry Angels Dachshund Rescue (FADR) will:
Seek to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home as many dachshunds as is physically and financially possible within the Rhode Island and New England area and sometimes beyond.
Work with animal control to educate members of the community about the characteristics and needs of the dachshund breed.
Work with other reputable dachshund groups to enhance the national rescue initiative and raise awareness about puppy mills and rescue mills. Over 26 years of experience with the dachshund breed.
We Need Your Help
Our rescue efforts are made possible by donations from members of our community, like you! We receive no grants (Federal or State money), so we are completely self-supporting and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of our friends and supporters. Your contribution to our rescue efforts will help provide the often necessary, sometimes very expensive, medical care, food, and necessities to ensure our dogs are getting the best care possible, and prepare them for a loving home. Please consider making a donation today.
We are always in need of volunteers, foster homes, and donations. Your assistance saves the lives of these precious dogs, and it would not be possible without your help!

We were contacted in 2019 when Sasha was brought into veterinary care by a neglectful owner, requesting she be euthanized. She almost did not make it through her first night from how malnourished and poorly cared for she was, but we restored her to great health and found her a loving home. The work we do here is not always easy, but so rewarding!
